Grumpy Old Bookman doubts that this blog is a labor of love created by a part-time amateur.  He is giving the Hotel Chelsea management team way too much credit.  No one has ever accused the hotel’s managers of doing anything in a professional manner.  If this was a corporate blog there would be absolutely no mention of cockroaches.

Eating my words. Shortly after I made the above post I found a blogger who had something nice to say about management. "So I called the Chelsea Hotel and spoke to the manager who found him a room; I love the hotel managers of NY, they always have that air of exasperated efficiency and always manage to fit you in somehow."

I side with you on this one, LW – i followed Grump’s link here and was ready to find what he described, he being excellent in everything else he writes, but you definitely don’t have that tell-tale leaden correctitude of The Man. Will be fun watching how you go.

The answer to Grumpy Old Bookman’s complaint about this blog is lodged in his own comments: No sane hotel manager would highlight roaches and fires as a way to attract customers.
I’ve never been to the Chelsea, but it sure seems like a groovy place.

This is not being done by Stanley David, Jerry or anyone else who holds the keys to the chelsea hotel. Among other things, Stanley hates any mentions of cockroaches. Also, if it was the hotel management behind this, my email to this site would have been answered with a cranky reminder that I still owe back rent to Stanley. 🙂
