to whether Sid was the stabber of Nancy included, it really is very hard to conclude that it was him with any certainty. I started writing on it but I couldn’t bear the Sid & Nancy energy around me. I grew up a bit prejudiced because we came very much from the Britpunk line as kids and Nancy as hag / witch was received wisdom. [Ramones were the exception on US punk]. A new influence in my life has forced me to reconsider that, they were two very fucked up kids in over their heads. I won’t make heroes of them, regardless. To me, it seems a shame that they take limelight from the creativity that the Hotel should be recognised for.

Some suggest a failed suicide, that makes no sense. If you’re interested I can dig into my library further but, at the heart of it, the evidence suggests Sid wasn’t even strong enough to deliver the blows. A further complication is the supposed confession. Sid’s comments are clearly ironic to me ["yes, I killed her, I’m a dirty dog"] but I learned very quickly last year that one should use irony sparingly in America.
