We haven‘t seen hide nor hair of Chelsea Hotel layabout/board member David Elder in about a week.  Here’s what happened.  For all of these years Sid Vicious’ ghost has remained content to play games such as stopping the elevators on the first floor and holding the door open.  If he’s feeling really spiteful he’ll make the elevator stop on every floor while he jumps off to go looking for Nancy.  And Nancy’s ghost, as far as we know, has simply been bidding her time until she was summoned by Sid.  But apparently something of cosmic significance must have happened in this building last Monday which allowed the ghosts of Sid & Nancy to reunite and run David Elder out of the hotel.

Anybody who we’ve ever talked to who knew Nancy says that she could be a real bitch, so just imagine what her ghost would be like.  She’s been laying in wait in that bathroom for two months listening to David Elder’s scheming to screw over the Bard family and Piri Thomas.  All of those prank phone calls that Ol’ Snake Eyes was getting at 3:00 in the morning was pissing her off too.  She didn’t mind the dead fish head that somebody left outside Elder’s door so much, but apparently she stepped in the dog poop and that really set her off.
Posing as Elder’s girlfriend, the succubus Nancy came to him in bed one night promising to fulfill all of his deepest darkest desires. Unfortunately, David was too unimaginative to come up with any, so Nancy pulled the hunting knife from her gut and chased him naked and screaming down the hall.  Sid, hanging out in the hall, was last heard screaming, “At least bring me back a pack of fucking cigarettes you wanker!”  The shaken Elder sent the bellman up to retrieve his belongings and to mollify Sid with a carton of smokes.

Some of the more skeptical among you may say that, no, actually all that’s happened is that David Elder has hopped on a plane back to LA, where the judge is scheduled to rule if he is fit to administer Piri Thomas’ trust (The judge will also decide if David Elder is fit to walk among humans.). — Ed Hamilton

Ed, if the judge decides that Elder isn’t “fit to walk among humans,” that implies that he will be going to jail, and that’s not the case.
I know you’re just being a writer and all, but, in all seriousness, what WILL it mean if the judge goes against Elder and his sister, as I imagine the judge will rule?
Does this actually have any potential to change who owns the shares themselves, or just the money that the shares brings in to each family? Does this have any effect on who sits on the board of directors?

we are told by good sources that if Elder is declared to preside over the Trust, then the judge consider his brother. Barring that, a third party could be appointed by the court until Piri’s death, or Piri himself could be appointed executor and it would then be up to Piri as to which side of the Chelsea argument to land on. Fairly easy to predict what side that would be, considering that his late wife had no difficulty living with Stanley managing the hotel for so long. At that point it would be Piri and David Bard’s vote against Marlene Krauss in the minority. We can hope, right?

Lets not forget that the court did establish David Elder had mismanaged $1.2 million dollars of Piri’s money, which he will be forced to return at the case’s conclusion. So while this proceeding today is a civil matter, if it is ever shown that Elder embezzled funds for his own gain then he could easily find himself behind bars.

“Then the judge consider his brother?” Sorry, what does that mean?
I don’t see how someone (if this is what you mean) could be considered someone’s brother by law when they are their step-father and not related by blood. Also, Piri from what I’ve been told, is only the BENEFICIARY of money from the trust, not a shareholder or someone who has rights as a voting board member…there’s a difference. So I’m confused how your good source thinks that Piri has a chance of being appointed to the board even if he wins, but yes…we certainly can hope.
I’m not sure if Elder embezzled money or just withheld money from one of the beneficiaries of the trust. I’m not a lawyer and don’t know if that would amount to the same thing. I’m guessing that one is probably more of a civil matter and the other, more of a criminal matter.

“Consider his brother” means David Elder has a brother who could be considered to take over as executor. Assuming he isn’t also accused of diverting money from his stepfather.
It is possible that Piri Thomas could be appointed to execute the trust he is beneficiary of if a judge decides that he is appropriately fit to do so. His late wife’s wishes are not being honored thus far, and the court has a great deal of discretion over what ultimately happens if David Elder is given the bums rush

Elder has a brother? I may have missed (or forgotten that) because all I can recall is that he has a sister. If his brother isn’t a part of the lawsuit, this would be something hopeful!
I think his late-wife’s wishes were that money be given to Piri to support him for the rest of his life, but I’m not sure that THIS could have any influence over being in charge of the shareholders. Unfortunately, I think these are two un-related issues. But, as someone said before…we can hope!
    Thank you for the clarification.
