After Jaz Jericho lost his battle to stay at the Chelsea Hotel he held a secret midnight going away party.
Storme DeLarverie stopped by and serenaded the crowd with her version of "I Fell For You." Turn up the volume. It’s awesome! Unfortunately, Storme is out of the frame on the far right of the screen.

Wow! How lovely is that? Storme should be singing some evening here…Invitations sent, and a beautiful dinner in 600. She is perfect in that song. Just made my day.

Stormie, you have more art, love and beauty in one molecule of one fingernail than 100 David Elders and Marlene Krausses (ooh, chilling image) would have in their cumulative cells. You are a national treasure. Is there anyone else who is a jazz singer, male impersonator of a legendary revue, bodyguard and bouncer, septuagenarian, not to mention the one who threw the first punch in the Stonewall riots? God, we love you to bits.
Such a shame Jaz was booted. We ghosts love him too.LikeLike

What a treat indeed! Thank you for posting this. In my opinion, Stormie is one of the most amazing people to have ever lived at the Chelsea. And for clarification, she is not a septuagenarian, but an octogenarian who is not far from being a nonagenarian, which makes her all the more breathtaking.

Human time confuses us, but yes, she is breathtaking and a role model for all.

Awww. I just saw this. Thanks for posting and sharing it with everybody Ed and Debbie. What a special night that was for me.
And Stormee, what an amazing soul. Love her to bits. We got drunk on Christmas together. I’ll never forget it. I was sad and she could tell. She wouldn’t let me be alone until I was feeling better. One day I’ll make a song out of these lyrics.
“Sitting in the hotel lobby, drinking cheap champagne. Stormee and me were quite a team, drunk on christmas day.”
And Ghosts…Thanks. I miss and love you too. My new home doesn’t feel comfortable without your watching eyes.
Keep up the good fight everyone.LikeLike
