In the most recent issue of Chelsea Now, former Chelsea Hotel resident Ethan Hawke bemoans the present state of our august institution.  “It stands as some relic of a time when things were more authentic and more personal,” he said.   And no surprise, he calls for the return of Stanley Bard and his son David.   Good to know that he’s on the same page as the rest of us.  Now if he would just fly a banner out of his window too.  Thanks for your continued support.

Good of Hawke to keep the candle burning. But hHow sad that we live in a city where “personal” and “authentic” are now throwbacks, and weaselly people like Marlene Krauss and David Elder can find the lawyers to legally steal the hotel out from under the people who worked hard to deserve the hotel, and have the majority stake, the Bards. What is most shocking is that Krauss and Elder evidently feel no shame or remorse for what they’ve done. Are they soulless, or what? What a sense of entitlement they have, the little heirs, eh? And their little dog* too.

Too bad some rich star cannot buy the hotel and preserve the history.

I don’t think Hawke is quite rich enough to buy the hotel.
