Some things never change. Here's Jerry Weinstein in 1981 looking the same as ever.  Unfortunately, though, some things do change.  In this nine minute clip from the 1981 BBC Arena documentary, Chelsea Hotel, you'll find Stanley Bard hard at work.  Now days you couldn't find a General Manager if your life depended on it – chiefly because Marlene Krauss won't hire one. Bring Back the Bards.  P.S. Does anybody know the white-haired telephone operator?  That was a bit before our time.

    Hi,
When I tried to pay my rent this month I wasn’t able to get a receipt because of the “new computer system.” I know I’m not the only person who has experienced this problem. Others haven’t received receipts or statements in months. What gives? I know that the staff received weeks of training on this new system. Why can’t we get receipts or statements anymore? If the SYSTEM is causing this many problems for the tenants I wonder what’s happening with the guests.

Mr. Kleinsinger might have had something to say about Tilley and Tamasar’s seek-and-destroy mission toward all the plants on the roof. He had quite a collection!

Don’t Ignore Me – adding to the mediocritization (if not a word, it is now) of the Hotel Chelsea, it may be Tilley/Tamasar carried a “No Receipt, No Charge” policy along from Motel 6 or Waffle House or whereever they took their training. This could work in our favor…

Sigh. The Chelsea Hotel was magical and great. Past tense. So sad what krauss and Elder have done to it.
