That “Patron of the Rats” David Elder can’t even recognize Rene Shapshak’s signature, never mind his art? This I find truly bothersome, and for me its enough to disqualify him as manager of the Chelsea Hotel.

if the mange in management didn’t know who arthur miller was i hardly expect they’re going to recognize rene shapshak. hell i’ll bet anything they didn’t know the old guy was dead until they sent him an eviction notice. really now, this is chelsea hotel 101 and these dopes get a failing grade. which reminds me –thanks to whoevers responsible for all the game show trivia questions that only serve to further dumb-down the art loving, chelsea-loving public.

Cleaning the basement? Nooo!!!!! Some people are nuts!!! They threw this in the trash? Some historic places cherish and conserve their history not throw it away! What a thing to do! You better get the old man back in there before you don’t recognize the place!

Throwing out the Shapshak is abominable and typical. Extrapolated, it’s their cynical and ignorant exploitation of a legacy they didn’t create and have been steadily destroying that is truly stomach-churning. The emperor Elder is not only naked, we can all see his wee little willie and humungous ballsack too.

But who cares as long as David Elder lets me hang my horrifically bad paintings behind the desk, or in the lobby, or whereever I want (so long as my lips are pressed firmly across their ass cheeks) because the old chelsea was good but “The new chelsea aint bad either”, right?
What a load of dogshit. The Hotel Chelsea is a mere shadow of its former self and cleaning house might not be the worst idea but not under these circumstances. David Elder didn’t pick ’em, and he’s got no right to stick ’em.
We can’t wait for the Bard Family’s return which is coming whether Mr. Elder and Mz. Krauss like it or not. They are just trying to eradicate whatever semblance of charm the Hotel has before the Bards get back in control.LikeLike

Whoever said “dumbed down” really nailed it. This Hotel is severely dumbed down since the Bards have not been around. I’d like be made aware of a single improvement that the corporate raiders have made to the Hotel and defy any-one to demonstrate how they have improved vs. destroyed portions of this landmark. Fact is they haven’t made any improvements they are just prideful placeholders who can’t bring themselves to admit they are ABSOLUTE FAILURES. Elder has never succeeded at anything in his life except looking like a complete moron and Krauss…well…we already know how well she fares in business i.e. Bernie Madoff and the dissolution of her Corporation. Nice going lady.
