Why is a company that specializes in hazardous waste management removing debris from Star Lounge? Should our concerns extend beyond the destruction of the mural in Stanley Bards office?  We'd like to think that these men in masks were just cleaning up three years worth of crack cocaine residue from the bathroom fixtures, but we fear otherwise.  Why are residents never notified as to what's going on in the building? Management has some explaining to do.

    I hope it’s not asbestos?

It’s their wasted patrons who are hazardous. Never seen such a ratty bunch. So they are renovating without permits and without ever repairing the damage they have done to the landmarked railing?

I just went to the DOB website and a full stop work order still exists on the entire buiding. This is illegal.

In a recent taste test, Star Lounge partiers preferred crystal meth over crack cocaine by a margin of two to one.

Well, masks like the ones in the picture aren’t rated for much more than plaster dust and mold. If they were dealing with hazardous materials, they’d have repirators + suits on.

Plaster dust and mold were considered the same thing fifteen years ago. Now medical science tells us mold kills. So does asbestos which is commonly found in buildings of this age. Doubtful Charles Ferri could find cheap laborers if he fully informed them of the risks.

If there is a Stop Work order covering the entire building then throw the book at them I say.

I agree with Ms. H…if there’s a STop Work Order in effect then responsibility for the violations should fall squarely on the Hotel manager who approved the work.

Sure has been peaceful at night since Star Lounge closed for renovations. Its like living above a war zone when they are open.
