Tom Acitelli of the Observer, was here at the Chelsea Hotel on Thursday, too early to observe the Chelsea’s art collection being removed from the walls, stairwells and halls, being carted off to god knows where. Of course not all of the artworks that were removed belonged to the Hotel. Some belonged to the individual tenants and they have been told to contact the Chelsea Dynasty Corp. and provide proof of ownership to negotiate the return of their belongings. Chelsea Dynasty? Sounds like a bad Chinese takeout joint.

real sloppy. much more so in person. would a placard stating ‘under renovation’ not have been sufficient? they needed to deface the original antique doorways?

And how do I contact the Chelsea Dynasty Corp? Is there even such a thing? I put those words in the browser and this is the only webpage I found with those words. LOL.

That better not be the room I think it is. If they painted over that black door on the first floor I am going to lose my mind.

This is so painful. My boyfriend and I came to stay last New Years and were like “ah! we found a home and are never leaving.” Kinda hard to explain the sense of things, but it’s like there’s a ghost duplicate of myself in some duplicate universe that hasn’t been destroyed by corporate greed and it is happily painting and writing in duplicate rooms in another Chelsea where things are as they should be. I feel like the theme of my young adulthood is uncovering these gems only so that I can know they are out of my reach and under deconstruction. I’m very sorry for you all who live there. I am sorrier for myself that I’ll never get a chance to.
